Stuff I can do
Whether you like it or not, communication with your other half is central to your relationship. Relationships tend to hit a bump in the road when there’s poor communication; here are some tips that could help.
Take some time for you and your partner to have a chat. Make sure you’re not distracted by anything. Take it in turns to speak, each one speaking for five minutes while the other listens. This gives each of you a chance to speak without being interrupted.
Be honest and frank. Don’t hide how you feel. It might be a pain, but being open to your partner about how you feel can help.
Try something that’ll get you to relax; yoga, walking or going to the park together…whichever will make you feel more relaxed. Sometimes communication isn’t just applicable to what you say, but also how you act.
If you’ve recently separated from a partner you may be feeling quite sad or unhappy about it. Remember to look after yourself and continue in a regular routine. If you are struggling to come to terms with it, confide in a friend, family member or someone you trust. There is also help available from places such as the Samaritans, to help if you are feeling isolated.
